INTRODUCTION AND NEWS
We are very pleased to at last be going live with our 'Polar Search'. This is our keyword searchable photo database. It will be a lengthy project, getting scanned images onto the site so they can be searched but we finally feel that with 5,000 images loaded, we have made a good start. If you consider that we hold in excess of 100,000 transparencies, on line searching will never replace a search of our filing cabinets, but in the next few months we hope to have a representative selection of photographs available. Right now we still need to scan more Penguins and ice. We would like to thank our webmaster Keith for his endless patience and resourcefulness.
Bryan spent six weeks in the Nadym area of Siberia this spring to document the time of reindeer birthing. He was startled by the obvious impact of climate change and returned with interesting pictures.
We worked together on two assignments this spring. A trip to Shishmaref on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska for People Magazine and a week around the Ice Hotel in Sweden. Both trips were very productive.
We are now pleased to be able to offer many pictures in our files as high resolution scans which we can deliver on a CD, by e-mail or from a web page.
